Silence Project: Three Days of Reflection and Transformation at Residencial Vall d’Albaida

Imagine a place where the strength of personal stories intertwines with the power of unity. From July 1st to 3rd, in the picturesque setting of Hostal Carrícola, a transformative event took place: the "Silencio" project funded by the Erasmus+ program. This project focused on a vital topic: mental health after gender-based violence. Over three intense days, participants embarked on a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and healing.

Day 1: An Empowering Start The first day marked the beginning of a unique life experience. Starting from 10 in the morning, the project facilitators, the Equality Unit and Raquel Revert, introduced the program and themselves. It began with a group introduction activity where participants shared their personal worlds and expectations for the project. This crucial first step in establishing authentic connections paved the way for the journey ahead. The group came together to establish important agreements that would guide their interactions. Topics such as body acceptance, combating gender stereotypes, and the importance of breaking free from imposed roles were openly and sincerely discussed. Through creative writing and connecting with their "inner child," participants explored their deepest dreams and desires, discovering the power to heal and release their emotions.

Day 2: Exploring Inner Strength The second day delved deep into the relationship with one's own body and the perception of identity. Participants engaged in movement and bodily expression activities, exploring how they feel in their skin and how they relate to others. Through interactive dynamics, topics such as the sexualization of the body, personal boundaries, and the significance of consent were addressed.

An exciting moment was the creation of personal stories, where each participant shared their empowerment message through movement and body language. This experience focused on fostering self-confidence and trust in others, challenging ingrained stigmas and gender roles. Day 3: Reflecting Transformation On the final day, participants took their self-discovery to the next level. Through dynamics like the "Johari Window," they explored how they see themselves and how others perceive them. The barrier of looking at oneself in the mirror and confronting internal negative messages was worked upon. This experience became a profound exercise in self-acceptance and self-compassion.

The residency culminated with a closing circle, where participants shared their experiences, reflections, and feelings. The personal transformations and group solidarity showcased that together, they can challenge stereotypes, heal wounds, and strengthen one another.

From July 1st to 3rd, at Residencial Vall d’Albaida, the "Silencio" project left an indelible mark on the participants. Unity, empowerment, and reflection transformed lives, demonstrating that each voice matters and that the path to mental health after gender-based violence is a journey within a community.
